Minutes of Annual General meeting held on 1 June 2024
at New Lynn Friendship club hall,
3063 New North Road, New Lynn, Auckland.

Meeting was started at 10.05 am
Shri Atul Purohit, newly elected Secretary, gave his introduction as a secretary to the members of the Gujarati Samaj NZ with welcome speech and safety rules
Secretary invited Smt Rashmikaben and her group of other ladies on the stage for the prayer.
After the prayer, the Secretary announced the sad demise of Smt. Vidhyaben Thakkar on 28th May 2024, mother of our Gujarati Samaj member Shri Ashwinbhai Thakkar. Besides, information about a sad incident of fire at the Game Zone in Rajkot city in Gujarat took place where 28 innocent childrens lost their lives plus one more fire incident of Delhi where seven newborn babies died. For all these incidents, to pay respect to all deceased people, two minutes of silence was observed. Members expressed sorrow for these incidents.

Secretary then invited Shri Arif Zia to promote his upcoming event
Two young girls, Miss Prisha Kapadia and Hiva Dalwadi, performed a Bollywood dance nicely. Members of GSNZ highly appreciated their dance.
Birthday celebrations of the members whose birthdays fall in the month of June 2024 with birthday cards. Shri Jashubhai Patel sang a birthday song.
After the celebrations of the birthday, 15 minutes of time was allowed to the ex secretary Shri Bharatbhai Parikh to talk about “election process and election related issues ” and express his views on some irregularities according to him , in the election of 2024-26. He also asked for some explanations from the President. He just kept on for more than one hour and fifteen minutes on the same because of that, very little time was left to reply to his allegations by Shri Chunilal Mehta, election officer for 2024-26 elections. However, President Shri Kiritbhai Thaker gave some explanations, but members were getting late and their taxis were waiting for pick up hence they didn’t wait to listen. Meanwhile, Shri Chunilal Mehta, due to non-availability of time, agreed to clarify the queries raised by Shri Bharatbhai Parikh and Sureshbhai Trivedi in the general meeting of next month i.e. 6th July 2024. The President also announced to answer Bharatbhai's queries. With the statement of Shri Sureshbhai Trivedi, election officer Shri Chunilal Mehta lost his patience, and the havoc was created by the stage. Many members came to the stage to calm the situation.
The President then announced the name of the donor of the meal for all members of the Gujarati Samaj NZ on 1st June 2024. The lunch was sponsored by Smt Kokilaben Anilbhai and family. The food was delicious and healthy.
All EC members and volunteers left the hall at about 3,.15 pm.
