Minutes of Annual General meeting held on 6 July 2024
at New Lynn Friendship club hall,
3063 New North Road, New Lynn, Auckland.
215 plus members both seniors plus youth, remained present in today’s general monthly meeting (6th July 2024)
Meeting started with safety rules by Shri Atul Purohit. This was followed by a prayer from the ladies group.
This was followed by honouring departing members, who they volunteer tirelessly for the last two years serving Gujarati Samaj NZ Inc. Members accepted a framed “Certificate of Appreciation” but some members refused to accept this. Shri Atul Purohit asked them to get the certificate whenever they wanted to.
shri Kantibhai Patel and shri Ashokbhai Raval provided information about upcoming visit to various temples around Auckland and necessary messages would be circulated via WhatsApp with more details. They also informed members about the information provided in the police meeting regarding elderly abuse incidents.
Birthday celebrations of the members whose birthdays fall in the month of July with handing over birthday cards to them by shri Ashokbhai Shah and Smt. Bhagwatiben Shah. Shri Jashubhai Patel sang a nice birthday Besides this, two lady members of the Gujarati Samaj were honoured by a beautiful shawl for completing 80 years of age.they were 1) Pushpaben Yogendrabhai Thaker who was honoured by smt. Bhartidevi Chouhan and 2) smt. Malvikaben Jyotindra Shah who was honoured by smt. Urmilaben Patel.
President Shri Kiritbhai Thaker gave a brief introduction about newly elected executive members during the May 2024 election.
President Shri Kiritbhai Thaker delivered a speech with a slide show where he presented the series of documents , correspondence , related messages for the period 6th July to 26th April 2024 in relation to youth meal money and how/what we achieved at the end. He also explained how it has impacted our day to day Members got the clear picture and were impressed with the explanations. This was in reply to shri Bharatbhai Parikh’s queries and complaints of June 2024. He also mentioned about the grant applications made so far for the next year. President Shri Kiritbhai Thaker mentioned at the end that he has resigned from the post of President and as executive member w.e.f. 24th May 2024.
Treasurer Shri Mahendrabhai Patel in his short speech presented financial figures, meal money collection and its utilisation during his tenure of four years. He thanked the President team members, as well as all the members for their support. He also informed members about resigning from the post of Treasurer.This was followed by Rashmikaben Patel who expressed her thoughts and why she is resigning from the post.
Shri Kantibhai Patel in his brief speech mentioned why he has resigned. During his speech he tried to give an example of how we react while we attend other organisation’s meetings, some members didn’t like this. Kantibhai did apologise for this.
Shri Mahendrabha J. Patel in his speech, quietly explained what needs to be done about our He also mentioned how the structure should be for our executive committee. He submitted an application to the secretary stating that his past complaints have not been attended to and replied..
Finally, our senior member Shri Chunibhai Mehta gave his speech and asked the complainer whether they wanted the clarifications regarding what happened in elections. It might take one hour to give complete explanations. Those who had a query regarding elections denied for explanation. After about an hour of speech, shri Chunibhai Mehta declared that Gujarati Samaj NZ Inc would again go for elections on 3rd August 2024 due to mass resignations of EC members. He also expressed his inability to be the Election Officer for the upcoming elections.
At the end Shri Bhikhubhai chanted Bhojan Mantra .The food was tasty and healthy. All members enjoyed the food.
